Safeguarding Workshop

  • St Joseph's Pastoral Centre Cnr Vagues and Main North Road Papanui, Canterbury New Zealand (map)

Thank you so much to those who are part of our North Parish ministries and volunteer roles. Your time and commitment is greatly appreciated and without you we could not offer the pastoral ministry that you allow us to provide.

We always welcome new volunteers to our ministries. Please let us know which area you would like to be involved with.

Our Diocese and North Parish is committed to and prioritises the safeguarding of everyone with a particular focus on our children and vulnerable adults. The definition of safeguarding is “protect from harm or damage with an appropriate measure”. Safeguarding works both ways in that it offers protection to you in your role in our parish as well as those with whom you come into contact in a variety of circumstances. We want a culture of Safeguarding in our parishes. It takes a community to do this.

North Parish has a Nominated Parish Safeguarding Contact, Melonie de Roo. Melonie’s role is to assist in implementing the safeguarding policies and procedures within our parish to ensure that best practise is always maintained.

To support this commitment the North Parish are hosting a Safeguarding Workshop just for North Parish volunteers. This workshop will be facilitated by Clodagh Ward from the Diocese.

Who needs to go?
Leaders and volunteers of North Parish
New or existing volunteers who have not yet attended a Safeguard Workshop. It is recommended that if you have not been to a Safeguarding Workshop in the last two years you attend this new and updated safeguarding workshop.

What’s the why?
Please view Bishop Michael's Safeguarding Video thanking you and encouraging you to attend this workshop.
