Our Vision

On Pentecost Sunday in 2020, the three former parishes of Christ the King - Burnside, Holy Trinity - Bryndwr, and St Joseph’s - Papanui amalgamated and formed the new Catholic Parish of Christchurch North under the former Bishop of Christchurch, Paul Martin SM. His pastoral vision for the renewal of the Christchurch City Parishes were set out in his document ‘Our Faith, Our Future'.

Upon studying and breaking open this document, a project group was formed and met together to create a vision for the new North Parish - springing up from the overall Diocesan Vision.

The vision for the Catholic Parish of Christchurch North is of a missionary parish bringing people to come to know Jesus Christ personally, helping them grow as disciples, and going out to others with the Gospel Message.
— North Parish Vision

We hope that you feel at home in our parish, as we continue to try and live out this three-fold vision for our parish:

To know Jesus personally, to grow as disciples,
and to go out with the Gospel Message.

God Bless,
Fr Rick Loughnan (Parish Priest)
