Welcome Home!

Catholics Returning Home.

Have you drifted away from the Church and God? Have you stopped attending Church or do you attend infrequently? Are you angry at the Church or God? Sadly, some have been hurt by people within the Church. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been away a few years or a lifetime - you can always reclaim your Catholic Faith. It is your heritage, and it belongs to you.

For most returning Catholics, it’s simply a matter of returning to the Sacraments - especially reconciliation (also known as confession). For others who have had multiple marriages, the annulment process is available and can be worked through with the help of the Marriage Tribunal. Nobody is beyond the mercy of God! No matter what your situation is, the Lord can help you work through it.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Many agonise over past failures and worry that they can’t be forgiven. Jesus died for all of us, and he set us free from sin. There is nothing we have done, or that we can do, that cannot be forgiven. We can always start over and change our lives for the better. it is the Lord who continually invites us to return to him and be transformed.

Lyn was in her late sixties when she first attended a Catholics Returning Home programme. She was a widow, poor, and struggling to support herself. Her husband had been an alcoholic and her adult son was following the same path. Lyn was trying to deal with the emotional anguish and pain that arose from these family dynamics.

Though she had been away from the Church since high school, her Catholic faith had been important to her, even as she let it fade into history. She hoped to return but she didn’t know where to start. Her family of origin was alcoholic and abusive, and she wasn’t sure if her mother was really her mother ad all! Without a doubt Lynn had a very emotionally troubled and tangled life.

Even though religion wasn’t important in her family, or in her marriage, Lynn always wanted the security and stability of belonging in the Catholic Church, even though she felt completely unworthy and confused about her status. She was overjoyed to be invited to a Catholics Returning Home programme and to be welcomed back to the Catholic Faith Community.

Lynn feels privileged and grateful to live out her golden years in a peaceful and secure Catholic Community among like-minded people where she is no longer isolated and alone.

Help me to trust in your love.
Grant me your grace that I may experience your loving arms around me.
My faith is weak and currently just calling out to You is a struggle.
Grant me your grace and favour in my journey towards You.
Bless me in this time of seeking, and guide my steps that I might find my path to you.
Amen.
